How to Apply

If you are interested in applying for the Long-Term or Short-Term Exchange Program, you can start by downloading the application for each from this website. Just select which program you’re interested in and click on the respective link to get on how to apply and to access the application form.

Contact ESSEX before You Begin the Process

Call 1-888-ROTARY-X and leave your address, phone number and, if applicable, fax number to get the appropriate address of where to send your application since this varies, depending on where you live. Remember, this website is only for Rotary International districts located within ESSEX (east coast of USA, Bermuda and eastern Canada). If you are not calling from the ESSEX area, this toll free phone call will not work. See the ESSEX area map to see if you live in the ESSEX area.

You may also email us your name, address, telephone number and a brief message. We cannot respond to information requests or other inquiries for areas outside of the ESSEX region. Alternatively, fill in the form below. Note: Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

Establish Contact with Your Rotary District & Local Club

The Rotary Youth Exchange District Chair in your Rotary District will contact you and provide you with details, an application and answer questions you might have. You may also be contacted by a Rotarian in your home area who will interview you and your family. You will then be interviewed by the Rotary District Committee. If you are accepted, they will coordinate your application with one of the countries where you are interested in doing your exchange.

Make Travel Arrangements

A Rotary travel representative will also contact you and will make arrangements for travel, visas and other things you must do.

Get Ready

Your local Rotary district will arrange for orientation sessions for you and your family. Further information regarding rules and conditions of the exchange, travel arrangements, medical insurance, orientation, etc. is available under each program section.
